PROPOSAL: To amend the current Rule as follows: The cabin moulding on the starboard side aft of the main bulkhead shall be fitted with a basin, sink or stove. CURRENT POSITION: The cabin moulding on the starboard side aft of the main bulkhead shall be fitted with either a sink and drain and water tank or a stove with a separate liquid petroleum gas or alcohol container of not less than 1.80kg in weight. The sink shall drain into a plastic container with a minimum capacity of 5 liters and/or overboard by means of a through hull fitting. REASON: 1) To simplify the Rules 2) To accommodate all existing fixtures COMMENTS: Recommended by the Technical Committee |

| So the water faucet (spicket) can be removed? I heard from a measurer lately that the faucet had to be there since it was considered "original equipment". |

| I cant believe that the sink moulding wasnt removed years ago. All it does is adds to the expense of building the boat. |

REASON: 1) To simplify the Rules 2) To accommodate all existing fixtures. Comments: The interior liner mold in Argentina have a flat surface on the starboard side moulding, so, considering it, we would like to make possible for the new owners the choice of leaving it flat, without the need to fit anything, or to fit a sink or a stove. This will not make any significant weight distribution change but will save some cost in a non used neither necesary item onboard. |

Roberto, I think a simple basin is all that is needed. It saves on the drain and container. Why complicate things? |

In my view and for the future Roberto is on the right lines, however for this WCM in August the "basin" is moving in the right direction. I and I know many sailors in Europe are saying why cannot we make the Starboard interior hull moulding identical to the Port moulding. There are a number of very good reasons in favour; 1. Those of us who are now less agile could pass either side of the mast when trying to access the forepeak. 2. We could have additional bouyancy low down on the starboard side as well as that currently fitted on the port side by some builders. 3. We could say good bye to the wash basin and enhance the internal image of our Class in one gigantic leap into the future. 4. This type of item could not possibily be termed "speed enhancing". The difference in weight is likely to be minimal. We would probably need to put something into the optional equipment or Plan A Interior Layout to cover those who want to keep a basin etc. We need a proposal put up on the Class Forum for both the membership and ITC to consider. In theory, we could get a change like this through in 1 or 2 years if the membership supported it. |

| My response is on behalf of 12 of the 23 polled Lake George - Fleet 24 members. The majority response is . . . to change the rule. Discussion: Agree with the Technical Committee. |
