The rulebook doesn't seem to prohibit it...is this class legal? -Pierson #591

I understand and appreciate the concerns about sinking a boat on a starboard tack by backing water up the sink drain, but why not just install a block valve immediately inside the boat. This way the drain line is shut when the valve is closed. It seems a lot less expensive route that fiber glass and trying to match the curvature of the side. But what do I know.
