I haven't been using a foreguy since I got my boat. I now have a carbon pole and the mid pole connection has my interest up in using a foreguy. My twings only have a problem with squaring back the pole. I have just moved them back and inboard some to improve that. Question: what is the group consensus on using twings only; together with foreguy; or just foreguy? Spar Wars 3246

Bruce, I almost always use only the twings. Don't even rig the foreguy. The foreguy only comes out when its extremely bumpy or windy. I was sailing in breeze gusting to 23 last week - but never thought of rigging the foreguy. I only have a tapered pole (not carbon fiber) NZ

I have a carbon tapered pole and we use the foreguy and twings almost all the time. The foreguy stablizes the pole in all conditions. It makes my trimmer much happier.

Do you use twings on both sides at same time or pole only?

We sail with a carbon taper pole (USA #5351) and a carbon straight pole (USA #3290) and almost always use the twings and most of the time a foreguy. The foreguys does a couple of things: it's a back-up to the twings in case they don't get on after a gybe or as Nancy say, the foreguy is pretty nice to have in the lumpy stuff to keep the pole still.
