Hello, I am a new J/24 owner. I bought a 1977 boat that needs some work. Some one started the verm removal job and I am finishing it. I noticed some stress cracks on the port side just outside of the sump area. Is this common? Secondly, Are the cabin floor supports there to help stop this flex? My floor supports were replaced with oak timbers and were not tabbed to the hull. Boat was sailed this way. Thanks for your help! Dean Travis "Incognito" TSP240160577

I think I found the culprit for the stress cracks. Seems after you remove the verm from the floor you are to coat the floor with epoxy to reseal the floor. It's the recoat that is stress cracking. Straight epoxy doesn't flex very much so it cracks with out the fiber in it.
