PROPOSAL:
NEW: (Optional) Anti-abrasion strips of any material on the aft edge of the upper deck at the companionway.

CURRENT POSITION:
New Rule.

REASON:
1) To allow anti-abrasion strips that prevent damage to the deck when lines are run to the primary wenches.

COMMENTS:
Recommended by the Technical Committee

Does this imply that these arn't legal now? They already are on most boats and . We should make clear that all minor changes of this sort are OK.

Someone asked the question and when it was considerd the conclusion was reached that technically these strips are not legal now - see class rule 1.3. However many people have put them on their boats, or had the boat delivered from the builder with the strips installed. I installed mine years back.

This change is simply a "clean-up" type change to bring into the rules what has become common practice and prevent a foolish rules protest by some competitor that has a particularly bad day.

Occasionally something like this comes up and maintenance on the rules needs to be done to "tidy it up". Hopefully we have no holes like this left in the rules, but . . . .

My response is on behalf of 12 of the 23 polled Lake George - Fleet 24 members. The majority response is . . . to allow the rule. Discussion: Agree with the Technical Committee.
