I have been working on refitting my 1980 for a while now. I think if I had to guess I've gone through 600 5" discs of aluminum oxide sandpaper. I have tried other types but recently I came across a type I've never seen before. Its called Alumina Zirconia, its two steps removed from the hardness of diamond. This stuff by far the best sand paper I have ever used, it cuts twice as fast as AO. Its about 20% more expensive than AO but well worth the price. I have been getting mine from a website called www.supergrit.com.

Good supplier site - thanks Jeff!
Sandpaper was a significant part of expenses when I redid my boat's deck...
