Day Four-Thursday
Scattered clouds and light air was the forecast for the day. A 6 knot breeze filled in from the southwest and built to about 9 knots.
Race 7 started promptly at 13:00 with a slight favor to the right...a number of boats were called OCS with only a few coming back to clear themselves. Beating to weather, many boats realized the left side was filling in and ended up being favored at the top end of the course. The race saw a number of new boats in the numbers--first finisher Dag von Appen CHI 5014 (Bow 60), followed by Grimaldi/Contessi ARG 4677 (Bow 6) and Julian Fernandez MEX 4390 (Bow 36).
Race 8 saw the wind settle in at 7 knots, but shifts were prevalent. The lead changed many times in the five-leg race with major gains being made for those that caught the shifts. Iain Southworth GBR 4177 (Bow 19) finished first, David Klatt USA 1895 (Bow 44) finished second, with Bob Harden USA 5319 (Bow 01) finishing third.
Again, a number of protests ensued and held up posting of results.
A costume contest sponsored by Corona was held in the Competitors Village after racing with plenty of food and drink.
