Seamus Wilmot Report - 7/23

Well Wednesday was not our best showing of the regatta. The weather was not quite typical Berkeley Circle conditions. Race started at 11 am in about 10-12 knots of wind. We thought the ride side of the course was hugely favored, the race committee did a good job of making the left side of the starting line favored so the course was pretty even from top to bottom. We did not have the speed that we showed on tuesday so we could not go exactly where we wanted to go and got bounced around in the middle of the fleet. This race saw some new faces up in the top ten, lighter wind and shiftier than normal conditions tends to mix things up a little. The first weather mark was very crowded and some big gains and losses were seen at this mark rounding. The day never got that windy we all carried our big jibs for the entire race, we ended up 38th for that race and that has dropped us back to 29th for the regatta, but there were lots of protests to be heard before the night was out and I could not stay awake long enough to see how the scoring ended up.
